The Uses Of Internet Usage Software

Today using the web has become big business and so has the way in which it is monitored. In fact because it is costing businesses so much they are now using internet usage software which allows them to monitor exactly what each of their employees is doing whilst they are surfing the web.

Certainly many employees will now consider that having access to the internet is just as important as them having access to a telephone or photocopier. The problem is that many people will spend as much as 10% of their working day surfing the net for personal reasons rather than actually carrying out the tasks that they are being paid to do. Because of this reduction in productivity levels a business may well find itself losing revenue.

However for many businesses today in order to prevent the misuse of the internet by their employees whilst at work many companies have now implemented Internet Usage Policies. This policies define what the company considers to be acceptable internet usage by their employees and what they consider is not. It will also highlight the times in which it is acceptable for their employees to use the internet for personal use and when it isn't. Plus they will provide a list of all sites which they deem to be unacceptable and generally this will relate to pornographic, dating and gambling sites.

There are a number of benefits to be had from a company installing internet usage software so that they can monitor all internet use within a business and these are as follows:-

1. It allows a company to monitor each employee's internet individually. But it also allows a company to monitor the internet use department by department as well as the company as a whole.

2. If there are any legal issues arising because a member of staff may have downed loaded something that is considered to be illegal the software allows the monitor to see exactly which employee is involved.

3. It can provide the user with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly information regarding the company's usage of the internet. All of which can be used a corroborative evidence in times when an employee needs to be warned with regard to their use of the internet.

Many companies who now have internet usage software installed upon their networks have found this to be an extremely cost effective way of keeping internet use costs down. But also has helped to prevent the misuse of the internet by employees as well as ensuring that productivity levels are kept up.
