The Increase In Wireless Internet Usage

Today the use of wireless internet connections has been steadily increasing in recent years by many people. In fact you will find that around about 34% of those who log on to the internet will be using a wireless connection whether it be in the home, in the office or anywhere else where they can pick up a signal. Certainly as wireless internet usage increases then so the demands for an efficient infrastructure is put in place that people can then be able to access the internet no matter where they may be.

Currently the number of people now using wireless connections in order to gain access to the internet through say mobile phones is steadily increase month by month. Today the most popular sites that many wireless internet users are looking to gain access to include Yahoo Mail along with AOL Mail, Mapquest, CNN and an online mobile gaming site called Jamdat.

The main reasons as to why so many people are now using wireless in order to connect to the internet not just through their laptops but also their mobile phones is the actual cost of the devices that will connect you to the service. Currently a good quality wireless connection for a laptop that only requires plugging into the USB socket can cost as little as $20.

Although the wireless devices are cheap there are some issues relating to just how secure the information you are sending is when using a wireless internet connection. However there are things that a company can do to increase the security in relation to all their wireless access points along with their wireless internet. There are certain features which a company should have as standard when they setting up their wireless access points and which will help to ensure that their internet connection is as secure as they can possibly want it to be.

The first thing that any business should be doing when they set up wireless internet usage systems for their business is to the change the administrator password default setting. It is important however that the password is not to something that someone is likely to guess very easily. Also you need to ensure that all work when carried out and sent using a wireless internet connection is encrypted making it much more difficult for people to gain access to the information. Also you can set up each laptop using their MAC address so that only that particular laptop or laptops will able to have wireless internet usage access at a particular access point in the business. By carrying out these simple changes a business will be able to ensure that the information sent and receive through a wireless internet connection is as secure as they can possibly keep and prevent others (hackers) from being able to easily gain access to this information.
